Heya.

My name is Stef, and I write stuff. Sometimes just for fun, most of the time about food and travel. At the moment, I’m putting the finishing touches on brand new book called Stuzzichini: The Art of Italian Snacking, all about aperitivo food, drinks, and culture, which will show up on bookshelves near you in March, 2024 thanks to the fine people at Voracious Books/Little, Brown.

Here are some more things they tell me should be on a website…

I’m the former Senior Editor of Life & Thyme, a publication focused on cultural side of the culinary world.

I’m a three-time Emmy-winning and James Beard Award-nominated Producer of the documentary series, The Migrant Kitchen, which explores the influence of immigrant culture on cuisine.

In 2014, I founded Hay Rosie Craft Ice Cream Company in Brooklyn. That was a damn good time.

I’ve written some books, including the recipe collection, Ice Cream Adventures with Rodale Books, A Woman’s Place—an illustrated compendium celebrating women who changed the world through food. I was also the collaborating writer of the memoir Where I Come From, by celebrity chef Aarón Sánchez.

I’m obsessed with Italy and Italian culinary culture and have taught courses on regional Italian food.

I’m a Certified Cicerone (i.e. beer sommelier) and have worked in and around professional kitchens and breweries for over two decades. I’ve been a featured speaker for beer and food events, have lectured on craft beer theory and been a consultant on both sides of the bar.

My recipes have been featured in Prevention, Oprah Magazine, Better Homes and Gardens, and Southern Living. I’ve competed on The Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen and Game of Cones, and was featured on The Cooking Channel's Unique Sweets.

I love ice cream, raisins and roasted carrots, Sour Patch Kids, whiskey and sparkling wine. I’ve lived in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Nashville, Connecticut, and Florence, Italy, and these communities have shaped the way I listen to and tell stories, and the person I am today.

Most importantly, I love people. I love talking to them, hearing their stories, learning about and from them. My hope is to always have a way to share those stories, to help build and participate in community, in whatever form that takes.
